  • Chandler (8-10) took the loss Friday as the Pirates fell 8-7 to the Tigers, coughing up six runs on four hits and four walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out two.

The 24-year-old right-hander managed to avoid serving up a homer for the first time in five September starts, but there wasn't much else encouraging about Chandler's performance. He needed 77 pitches (42 strikes) to record just eight outs, and he heads into the offseason having stumbled to a 6.65 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 23:12 K:BB in 23 innings over the final month. A late fade isn't all that surprising, however, considering he's thrown a career-high 154 innings in 2026. Chandler will head into next season with a spot in the rotation seemingly sewn up, barring some significant additions to the Pirates' staff.

  • Chandler did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Royals, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk with six strikeouts over four innings.

Chandler entered the fifth inning with a 4-1 lead but allowed the first two batters he faced to reach, departing at 90 pitches before both inherited runners ultimately came around to score. It marked just the third time in 11 second-half starts that the 24-year-old was unable to complete at least five frames, though he's now yielded a homer in four straight outings. He owns a 4.34 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 138:76 K:BB across 151.1 innings and will close out his full year in the majors in Detroit next weekend.

  • Chandler (7-9) earned the win Tuesday against the White Sox after allowing two runs on four hits while striking out eight over six innings. He didn't issue a walk.

Chandler received a five-run cushion before taking the mound and dominated early, retiring the first 12 hitters he faced while recording seven strikeouts over the first four innings. Chicago finally broke through on Braden Montgomery's RBI single in the fifth before Kyle Teel homered in the sixth. Chandler still completed six innings and lowered his ERA to 4.25. His next start is projected to come over the weekend against the Cubs.

  • Chandler allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four across five innings in a no-decision against the Giants on Wednesday.

Chandler put the Pirates on the back foot early after yielding a solo homer to Rafael Devers in the first inning. Chandler bounced back to retire the next six batters he faced before giving up another two runs in the fifth, but he received enough run support to avoid the loss. The 23-year-old right-hander has allowed at least three earned runs in two of his last three outings and has a 4.30 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 136 innings this season. His 71 walks issued are third most in the majors behind only Robbie Ray (73) and Joey Cantillo (72). Chandler is tentatively slated to start next week on the road against the White Sox.

  • Chandler (6-9) took the loss Wednesday against the Padres, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out three.

It was a solid outing overall for Chandler, but the Pirates failed to provide him with any run support in an eventual 3-0 defeat, sticking Chandler with his first loss since June 30. The right-hander has posted a 2.95 ERA across 36.2 innings in his last seven outings, lowering his ERA to 4.26 with a 1.36 WHIP and 117:68 K:BB over 131 innings this season. Chandler is tentatively in line for a home matchup with the Giants in his next time out.

  • Chandler allowed four runs on four hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out six over four innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.

Chandler had won his last three starts, but he wasn't up to the challenge the Dodgers presented in this contest. The right-hander gave up a pair of runs in the first and third innings for his most runs allowed in a game in August. He has 4.38 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 114:66 K:BB across 125.1 innings over 25 games (24 starts) this year. Chandler's next outing is projected to be at San Diego.
