Latest news

  • Fisher allowed two walks while striking out one batter across 1.1 innings during the Blue Jays' 10-1 loss to the Tigers on Tuesday.

Fisher served as the Blue Jays' opener in Tuesday's bullpen game, and he was able to work his way out of back-to-back walks to start the first inning to keep the Tigers off the board. The 26-year-old right-hander has been a steady presence in Toronto's bullpen this season, sporting a 3.16 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, one save, 13 holds and a 73:40 K:BB over 74 innings.

  • Fisher will operate as the Blue Jays' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Tuesday will mark the 10th time this season that Fisher has been asked to work out of the opener role, with his last opportunity against the Athletics last Wednesday, when he fired a scoreless frame and struck out one. He'll presumably work the first inning before turning the game over to the bullpen.

  • Fisher will serve as the Blue Jays' opening pitcher Wednesday in a bullpen game against the Athletics, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Fisher will draw his ninth opener assignment of the season, but he didn't record more than four outs in any of those prior eight starts and will likely face a similarly light workload Wednesday. Michael Lorenzen will be available to pitch on four days' rest and is capable of providing some length behind Fisher after tossing three innings and 33 pitches in his most recent relief appearance.

  • Fisher will serve as the Blue Jays' opening pitcher for Saturday's game against the Yankees, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Fisher has thrown nine consecutive scoreless innings since the beginning of August, and the Blue Jays will now trust him to start for the eighth time this season. He'll likely remain in the game for an inning or two before turning the ball over to the bullpen.

  • The Blue Jays activated Fisher from the bereavement list Friday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Fisher was away for the series against the Nationals earlier this week but is back in time for the start of a homestand Friday. He's logged a 4.15 ERA and 52:26 K:BB over 52 frames for Toronto in 2026.

  • The Blue Jays placed Fisher (personal) on the bereavement list Monday.

Fisher's father passed away unexpectedly earlier this month, so the right-handed reliever is likely just taking some time away from the team to be with family. Per MLB rules, players placed on the bereavement list have to miss a minimum of three games and a maximum of seven, so Fisher won't be available for at least the entirety of the Blue Jays' series in Washington that runs Monday through Wednesday.
