  • The Pirates extended Lowe a one-year, $23.15 million qualifying offer Monday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Lowe will have until Nov. 17 to accept or reject the offer. If he rejects it -- which is likely -- and signs elsewhere, the Pirates would receive a draft pick as compensation. Lowe hit .260/.331/.493 while slugging 35 home runs and driving in 96 runs over a career-high 150 games for the Pirates this season.

  • Lowe is not in the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Tigers.

After slugging his 35th home run of the season in Saturday's loss to the Tigers, Lowe will get some extra rest during Sunday's regular-season finale. Assuming the pending free agent doesn't appear off the bench Sunday, he'll finish with a .260/.331/.493 slash line and 96 RBI to go along with his 35 long balls.

  • Lowe went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Tigers.

The veteran second baseman took Justin Verlander deep in the fourth inning, in the future Hall of Famer's final career start. Lowe has put together an impressive first season with the Pirates, slashing .260/.331/.493 in 150 games with 35 homers and 96 RBI, the second-highest totals of his career after his 39-homer, 99-RBI eruption for the Rays in 2021.

  • Lowe went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Cardinals

The 32-year-old supplied the only offense for the Pirates when he crushed a Matthew Liberatore offering to right-center field in the second inning. This was Lowe's 34th home run of the year, which is his most since the 2021 regular season when he hit 39 for the Rays. Lowe has been hot in September, slashing .338/.413/.620 with two doubles, six homers, 12 RBI and 12 runs.

  • Lowe went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Royals.

Lowe hit what proved to be the game-winning blast in the bottom of the eighth inning. It continued a strong run by the 32-year-old, who's hit safely in 10 of his past 11 games while going deep in four of his last five. For the year, he leads all second basemen with 33 long balls while slashing .262/.332/.494 with 93 RBI, 92 runs scored and two steals across 630 plate appearances.

  • Lowe went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk Wednesday against the Brewers.

Lowe knotted the game at 3-3 with his two-run homer in the fifth inning. It was his second consecutive game with a long ball, bringing his total for the season to 31. Lowe is enjoying an excellent campaign overall, and he's ending the year strong with three home runs, six RBI and eight runs scored while hitting .354 across 13 games in September.
