  • Naylor is starting behind the plate and batting ninth Sunday against the Reds.

The 26-year-old was called up to Milwaukee when rosters expanded Tuesday, and he'll finally make his Brewers debut after being acquired from the Guardians at the trade deadline. Naylor posted a .143/.200/.238 slash line in 90 plate appearances to begin the season for Cleveland before being demoted, but he was more productive at Triple-A Nashville after the trade with four homers and a .903 OPS in 14 games.

  • The Brewers recalled Naylor from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Most teams like to carry a third catcher when rosters expand in September, and that's what Naylor's role will be. He's unlikely to play much, barring injury.

  • The Brewers optioned Naylor to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.

Naylor was up with the Brewers as their 27th man in Sunday's MLB Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pa., but he remained on the bench for the entirety of a 4-2 loss to Atlanta. He'll head back to Nashville and may have to wait until the roster expands in September before he makes his Brewers debut.

  • The Brewers recalled Naylor from Triple-A Nashville to serve as the 27th player for Sunday's Little League Classic against Atlanta, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

The 26-year-old was acquired from Cleveland ahead of the summer trade deadline and will have the chance to make his Milwaukee debut Sunday in Williamsport. Naylor has gotten off to a hot start at Nashville, posting an .895 OPS with three homers in just 10 games after posting a .225/.344/.438 slash line in 45 contests at Triple-A Columbus prior to the trade.

  • The Guardians traded Naylor and Codi Heuer to the Brewers on Saturday in exchange for Craig Yoho and Blake Perkins, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Naylor has posted a .438 OPS across 90 plate appearances in the big leagues this season but has slashed .225/.344/.438 across 45 games at Triple-A. He'll report to Triple-A Nashville to begin his tenure with the Brewers, but he would be the next man up to join the big club if one of Milwaukee's backstops were to get injured, or if the team moves Gary Sanchez before the trade deadline.

  • Naylor will report to the Guardians' spring training complex in Arizona before joining Triple-A Columbus, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Naylor, who was optioned to Columbus on Saturday, will get a reset in Arizona away from the daily rigors of game activity. Barring an injury to Patrick Bailey or Austin Hedges in Cleveland, Naylor faced a difficult path back to the majors.
