  • Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Saturday that Jordan (ankle) will not play again this season, John Denton of Roundtable.io reports.

Jordan was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain in late August. While he recently shed his walking boot and began incorporating some baseball activities, the Cardinals ultimately decided to shut him down early because of the severity of the injury he suffered, according to Denton. The 23-year-old Jordan ends his rookie season with a .247/.276/.382 slash line and three homers over 199 plate appearances.

  • Jordan (ankle) has progressed to jogging and fielding grounders, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Jordan recently ditched the walking boot he'd been wearing on his sprained left ankle, and he's aiming to advance to sprinting soon. The rookie infielder said Sunday that he's "really pushing everything I can do to get back out there," and he's got a chance to make it back later this month if he continues at his current trajectory.

  • Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said Friday that Jordan is expected to miss "several weeks" due to a left ankle sprain, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Marmol stopped short of saying that Jordan would miss the rest of the year, but it looks like the 23-year-old third baseman will be shelved until at least the final week or so of the regular season. Nolan Gorman and Thomas Saggese should both see some reps at the hot corner for as long as Jordan is on the IL.

  • St. Louis placed Jordan on the 10-day injured list with a left ankle sprain Friday.

Jordan was removed early from Thursday's series finale against the Orioles with what is now deemed a left ankle sprain that will force him to sit out at least 10 days. The 23-year-old has slashed .247/.276/.382 with three homers and 28 RBI over 199 plate appearances this season. St. Louis recalled Thomas Saggese to replace Jordan on the 26-man roster.

  • Jordan was removed from Thursday's game versus the Orioles in the eighth inning with a left ankle injury, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Jordan's ankle got twisted underneath him as he made an awkward tag at third base. He required assistance to exit the field, so it could be an issue that requires a trip to the injured list. Jordan went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run Thursday before exiting.

  • Jordan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.

The Cardinals will leave Jordan on the bench for a second straight matchup versus a right-handed starting pitcher (Kyle Bradish). Though Jordan should rank as the preferred option at third base versus lefties, the Cardinals could lean on a committee of players to cover the position when they play righties. Nolan Gorman will cover the hot corner Wednesday.
