  • Hedges went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, two runs and a walk during Friday's 12-9 win over the Royals.

Hedges launched his first long ball since Aug. 24 when he took Noah Cameron deep in the second inning to extend the lead. The catcher extended his on-base streak to eight games. For the season, Hedges is batting .249/.328/.380 with six homers and 25 RBI in 245 plate appearances.

  • Hedges went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in a 4-2 win over the Angels on Monday.

Hedges provided the winning margin with his two-run blast to center field in the sixth inning. The long ball was his first in exactly a month, and the two RBI matched the amount he produced over 14 contests during the homer drought. While Hedges hadn't been producing much of late, he's still had a good season overall -- with a .270 batting average, he's on pace to finish over the Mendoza Line for the first time since 2018, and his .735 OPS is on track to be the highest mark of his 12-year MLB career.

  • Hedges went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, a run scored and a walk during Cleveland's 11-3 loss to Tampa Bay on Friday.

In the ninth inning, Hedges clubbed his fourth homer of the year to chip at the large deficit Cleveland was facing. The catcher recorded his third homer in the month of July and his first since July 4. On the season, the 33-year-old has hit a career-best .289/.351/.430 with four homers and 17 RBI in 155 plate appearances.

  • Hedges went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 3-1 loss to the White Sox.

Hedges homered for the second time in three games and has hit safely in his last six starts, going 8-for-18 (.444) during that stretch. This was the third start in four contests for the catcher, who is enjoying his best season at the plate with a .281/.343/.413 slash line over 46 games. Despite Hedges' unexpected production, he's still considered the backup to Patrick Bailey and his .179/.234/.253 line.

  • Hedges went 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 9-4 win over the Rangers.

Hedges plated one run on a sacrifice bunt in the second inning and then gave the Guardians breathing room with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. It was his second homer of the season and first since May 2. He's batting a career-high .270 this season and hasn't finished a season with an average above .200 since 2018. While Cleveland has four players capable of catching, Hedges and Patrick Bailey are the team's primary backstops.

  • Hedges went 0-for-2 with a walk in Saturday's 2-1 extra-innings win over the Twins.

Hedges started for the third time in the last four games, but he is expected to shift back to being the top backup after the Guardians acquired Patrick Bailey from the Giants on Saturday. Bo Naylor, who had been the primary catcher, was optioned to Triple-A Columbus in conjunction with the trade. Hedges, who had out-hit Naylor to start the season, will not be given the opportunity to stay atop the depth chart, although he may continue to be the personal catcher for Parker Messick.
