  • The Red Sox placed Seigler on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to right wrist inflammation.

Seigler's wrist issue flared up during Saturday's game against the Royals, and further testing led to an IL stint. Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Nick Sogard will be the main depth infield options for Boston while Seigler is on the shelf. In a corresponding move, Willson Contreras (hamstring) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list.

  • Seigler was removed from Saturday's game after experiencing pain in his right wrist following a swing, MLB.com reports. He hurt the wrist in the fourth inning and was eventually removed in the seventh.

Seigler, who was called up to Boston on Friday as a replacement for Eli White (foot), started at second base before departing. He was replaced by Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Seigler underwent further testing and evaluation following the game.

  • The Red Sox recalled Seigler from Triple-A Worcester on Friday.

Seigler will rejoin the big-league club after spending just under two weeks in Worcester. In the majors this season, the 27-year-old has slashed .250/.331/.405 with three home runs and 13 RBI over 171 plate appearances. Boston sent Eli White (foot) to the 10-day IL to make room for Seigler on the roster.

  • The Red Sox optioned Seigler to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, per Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic.

As Seigler's playing time continues to go to Nick Sogard, Boston removed him from the active roster and sent him to Worcester. In 171 major-league plate appearances, Seigler is slashing .250/.331/.405 with three homers and 13 RBI this season. Boston activated Trevor Story (abdomen) and Roman Anthony (finger) from the injured list to replace Seigler and Mickey Gasper on the active roster.

  • Seigler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Seigler is back on the bench for a second straight day while the Red Sox go with Nick Sogard at second base. Prior to Tuesday, Seigler had covered the keystone in four of the Red Sox's previous five contests, but his uptick in playing time appears to have been mostly the result of Willson Contreras and Masataka Yoshida missing out on two starts apiece due to illness.

  • Seigler is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Seigler looked as though he would settle back into a regular role at second base after Curtis Mead fractured his wrist in his team debut July 27, but the Red Sox have instead prioritized Nick Sogard ahead of him. Sogard will make a third consecutive start at the keystone Wednesday, with Seigler having been left out of the lineup for each of those contests. Seigler hasn't helped his case for playing time by going just 1-for-20 at the plate over his last eight contests.
