  • Morris earned the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Giants, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Morris got the call in the ninth inning Wednesday after Yoendrys Gomez was used earlier in the contest. The 25-year-old Morris worked around a pair of two-out baserunners to log his fifth save of the year. The right-hander has turned in four straight scoreless frames, lowering his ERA to 4.21 on the season with a 1.36 WHIP and 68:27 K:BB across 72.2 innings.

  • Morris will serve as the Twins' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Morris is set to serve as the opener for the third time this season. He last started June 4, when he allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over two innings against the Royals. Connor Prielipp is a candidate to follow Morris as the primary pitcher out of the bullpen.

  • Morris picked up the save Monday against the Athletics, retiring the lone batter he faced.

After Yoendrys Gomez was tagged for four runs without finishing the ninth inning, Morris was called upon to record the final out and did so to secure his fourth save. It marked the 24-year-old's first save since July 12, as Gomez has settled in as the primary closer for the Twins. On the year, Morris owns a 3.41 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 56:22 K:BB across 60.2 innings.

  • Morris allowed a hit and a walk while striking out two over two scoreless innings to earn the save in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Angels.

Yoendrys Gomez pitched Saturday, but it's unclear if that played a role in Morris staying in for a second inning to get the save. Morris has plenty of experience with longer outings -- he's recorded four or more outs in 13 of his 35 appearances (two starts) this season while working his way into the high-leverage mix. He's at a 3.33 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 48:14 K:BB with three saves, 13 holds and two blown saves over 46 innings. While Morris has worked as a starter in the minors, both of his starts in the majors have been as the opener of bullpen games, so it's unlikely he'll get fully stretched out in 2026.

  • Morris earned his second save of the season in Friday's 9-8 win over the Cardinals by pitching a perfect ninth inning. He didn't record a strikeout.

Yoendrys Gomez has recorded three of the Twins' prior four saves, but it was Morris who pitched the ninth inning Friday and got the job done on just nine pitches (six strikes). It was Morris' second save of the season, and he also snapped a run of three straight outings allowing at least one run.

  • Morris will start a bullpen game for the Twins on Thursday versus the White Sox, Bobby Nightengale of The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Morris made two starts at Triple-A St. Paul to begin this season and stayed relatively stretched out as a long reliever initially upon being recalled by the Twins. However, he's been shortened up and used in more high-leverage spots over the last few weeks. Morris hasn't gone more than 1.1 innings or thrown more than 32 pitches in any of his last 11 appearances, and he will be going on just one day of rest after throwing two-thirds of an inning in Tuesday's contest. The Twins could call someone up to serve in a bulk-relief role Thursday, but for now, the team looks to be treating the game as a true bullpen day.
