  • Abbott took a no-decision Wednesday against Atlanta, striking out six while allowing two runs on six hits and one walk in seven innings.

The two runs allowed were both homers, but it was an otherwise strong finish to the season for Abbott. Not only was it his first quality start since Aug. 18 versus the Cardinals, but Wednesday also marked a season-long outing for the southpaw. He'll be searching for a bounce-back campaign in 2027 after a disappointing 2026, during which Abbott posted a career-worst 4.61 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 131:76 K:BB over 166 frames.

  • Abbott did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Dodgers, allowing one run on three hits and five walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out five.

Abbott did a good job limiting the damage, as he held Los Angeles to a lone run despite issuing five walks, matching a season high. The southpaw ultimately departed the game with two outs in the fifth inning after he threw 98 pitches (just 52 for strikes). Notably, Abbott did not give up a home run in the contest -- he had allowed seven long balls in his previous five outings. Overall, his ERA sits at 4.70 through 31 starts (159 innings) this year with a 1.47 WHIP and 125:75 K:BB. Abbott currently lines up for a road matchup in Atlanta his next time out.

  • Abbott (6-11) took the loss Friday against the Brewers after allowing eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits over two innings. He didn't issue a walk or record a strikeout.

Abbott endured his shortest start of the season as Milwaukee overwhelmed him almost immediately. The left-hander surrendered two runs in the first before the Brewers erupted for six in the second, including three-run and two-run homers from Brice Turang and Jake Bauers, respectively. Abbott also allowed nine of the 14 batters he faced to reach safely. He's been trending in the wrong direction of late, as he's allowed at least seven earned runs in two of his last three outings. His ERA jumped to 4.84 following this disastrous outing, and he also owns a 6.20 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP since the All-Star break. Abbott is scheduled to make his next start against the Dodgers at home.

  • Abbott did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Brewers, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and no walks with five strikeouts over four innings.

Abbott allowed a solo homer in the first inning but was solid through four frames before his start was shortened by a lengthy rain delay. The southpaw threw 40 of 58 pitches for strikes with six whiffs, an encouraging effort after he was tagged for seven runs by the Cubs in his Aug. 29 outing. He'll take a 4.43 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 120:70 K:BB across 152.1 innings this season into a road rematch with the Brewers next weekend.

  • Abbott (6-10) took the loss against the Cubs on Saturday, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks in three innings. He struck out one.

Abbott was never quite able to get out of the gate Saturday, coughing up three runs in both the first and second innings. The seven runs allowed tied a season worst for the southpaw, who also matched his shortest outing of the year. He'll try to bounce back when he takes a career-worst 4.49 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 115:70 K:BB across 148.1 innings into his next scheduled appearance against the division-rival Brewers.

  • Abbott (6-9) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six over six-plus innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Abbott was left in a little too long, as he was on the hook for three of the four runs Arizona put up in the seventh inning. He threw 54 of 88 pitches for strikes in this outing. He's gone three starts without a win, allowing 11 runs over 16.2 innings in that span. For the season, Abbott has a 4.15 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 114:68 K:BB through 145.1 innings over 27 starts. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Cubs.
