Pallante (12-9) allowed six runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings to take the loss versus the Brewers on Sunday.
Pallante didn't catch much of a break as the Brewers had most of their top hitters active for the regular-season finale. September saw Pallante produce more mixed results, allowing 17 runs (15 earned) over 26 innings across five starts. He ends the campaign at a 3.83 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 110:50 K:BB through 162 innings over 29 starts. Pallante has made himself a stable but unexciting option at the back end of the Cardinals' rotation over the last couple years.

Despite the loss, Pallante recorded his first quality start since Aug. 11 against the Phillies. The right-hander was unable to get any run support from the Cardinals offense during his start Tuesday. Through 28 outings, the 28-year-old owns a 3.61 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 106:49 K:BB over 157 innings. Pallante is in line to make his final start of the campaign during Game 162 against the Brewers on Sunday.

Pallante gave up his most runs since his outing against Milwaukee on July 9 where he also yielded six runs. The 27-year-old came into this start with four straight no-decisions and has yet to pick up a win since Aug. 5. This year, the right-hander owns a 3.70 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 104:47 K:BB over 151 innings. Pallante is slated to make his next start Sept. 22 against the Pirates.

The right-hander was in firm control while he was on the mound, tossing 54 of 88 pitches for strikes and exiting with the Cardinals ahead 5-1, but a late meltdown by the bullpen cost Pallante his 13th win of the season. He's given up just two runs in 10 innings since returning from an IL stint due to elbow inflammation, and over eight outings since the All-Star break Pallante has delivered a 2.35 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 30:16 K:BB in 46 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week in a rematch with the Giants.

Pallante was activated Friday ahead of this start after a two-week stint on the injured list due to right elbow inflammation, and while he had control issues, he limited the damage to just one run. Pallante is a serviceable arm who can consistently pitch at least five innings, as he's done so in each of his last 14 starts. Over that span, he owns a 3.04 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with a 52:24 K:BB across 83 innings. He's scheduled to make his next start on the road against the Giants.
