Latest news

  • Frazier will start in left field and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Frazier will stick in the lineup for a third straight game, this time covering an outfield spot after going 1-for-6 with a double and a run scored between the first two contests of the series while making starts at designated hitter and second base. The veteran utility man could have a path to fairly steady playing time in the short term, though Frazier could find himself as an odd man out of the lineup once Nolan Schanuel (intercostal) returns from the injured list.

  • Frazier went 2-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Thursday's 7-0 win over the Rangers.

Frazier has gone 4-for-14 with two RBI over six games since he returned from a two-month absence due to elbow inflammation. He's in a reserve role for now, though he could see a short-term bump in usage while Oswald Peraza (hand), who is day-to-day, remains sidelined. Frazier is hitting .221 with a .621 OPS, one home run, eight RBI, 16 runs scored, five doubles, one triple and one steal over 107 plate appearances this season.

  • The Angels activated Frazier (elbow) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Frazier has been shelved since early June with right elbow inflammation, but he's been cleared to return to action after playing 10 rehab games. The veteran infielder is likely slated for a reserve role down the stretch.

  • Frazier (elbow) had his minor-league rehab assignment transferred to Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Frazier previously made six appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake, slashing .217/.280/.304 with two doubles and two RBI. The veteran utility man is recovering from right elbow inflammation and was able to log a full nine innings on the field July 26 for the first time during his rehab stint. Frazier is expected to play a few games with Rancho Cucamonga before potentially being activated from the IL, per MLB.com.

  • Frazier (elbow) began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday, going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Frazier played in his first game in more than six weeks as he battles his way back from right elbow inflammation. He played six innings at second base in his first rehab contest, and the Angels will likely want to see him get in at least one full game before returning him to the active roster.

  • The Angels announced Saturday that Frazier (elbow) has been hitting on the field, taking grounders and running, but he's not yet throwing at full intensity, MLB.com reports.

Frazier began a throwing program June 24, but he's still working his way up to making throws at 100 percent. The veteran infielder is expected to return in July, but he may have to wait until after the All-Star break before coming off the 10-day injured list.
