Latest news

  • Nola was charged with the loss Thursday in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series against Atlanta. He gave up three runs on two hits with one strikeout and two walks across 1.2 innings.

The right-hander retired Drake Baldwin to start the bottom of the first inning but then issued two straight walks before serving up a three-run homer to Michael Harris, which proved to be an insurmountable deficit for Philadelphia. It was a second consecutive disappointing year for Nola, who finished the 2026 regular season with a 4.67 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 177:59 K:BB over 175.1 innings. Now heading into his age-34 campaign in 2027, he still has four years and nearly $100 million remaining on his contract, so Nola's spot in the Phillies' rotation is likely secure despite his 5.14 ERA in 50 regular-season starts the past two years.

  • Nola will start Thursday in Game 3 of the wild-card series in Atlanta, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Nola will take the ball on regular rest Thursday, and the Phillies will also have Zack Wheeler and Jesus Luzardo available out of the bullpen in the winner-take-all game. The 33-year-old Nola has posted a 2.93 ERA and 61:20 K:BB over 61.1 innings covering 11 starts since the beginning of August.

  • Nola is likely to start a potential Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series against Atlanta on Thursday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Zack Wheeler will be on three days' rest Thursday and would be available out of the bullpen, but the Phillies are likely to turn to Nola on normal rest first if they're able to force a winner-take-all contest. The 33-year-old Nola was terrific down the stretch of the regular season for Philadelphia, collecting a 2.93 ERA and 61:20 K:BB over 61.1 innings covering 11 starts from Aug. 1 on.

  • Nola (7-12) took the loss against the Rays on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits in one inning. He did not record a walk or a strikeout.

Working on two days' rest but trying to help his club make the postseason, Nola was jumped for three runs in the first inning before departing. It was a tough regular-season finale for the veteran, though he'll finish the second half with a solid 3.33 ERA over 14 starts since the All-Star break. Overall, he posted a 4.67 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 177:59 K:BB across 175.1 innings this season and may be an option to start should the Phillies make the playoffs.

  • Nola will start Saturday's game against the Rays, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

The Phillies will send Nola back to the mound Saturday after just two days' rest as they look to clinch the final wild-card spot in the National League. Because the 33-year-old just threw six innings Wednesday against the Brewers, the Phillies will likely limit him to around two or three innings Saturday before turning things over to their bullpen.

  • Nola (7-11) took the loss Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out eight.

Nola gave up solo home runs to Brice Turang and Christian Yelich in the first two innings before William Contreras tacked on two more runs with a two-out single in the third. Nola had been rolling coming into Wednesday's contest -- he held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his previous eight outings, posting a 1.86 ERA across 48.1 innings in that span. The veteran right-hander will likely finish the regular season with a 4.54 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 177:59 K:BB across 32 starts (174.1 innings).
