NFL Week 7 Practice Report: Lamar Jackson Limited, Rashee Rice Still Out and Jordan Love Goes Full Before Friday's Final Designations

Thursday's practice reports have sorted most of the Week 7 fantasy questions into three piles: players trending in, players trending out and players who will go to the final Friday designation as genuine coin flips. Lamar Jackson (ankle) was limited again for Baltimore, Rashee Rice (hamstring, knee) missed a second straight day for Kansas City, Baker Mayfield (thumb) practiced in full for a second consecutive day in Tampa Bay and Jordan Love (back) was upgraded to full for Green Bay. Friday's reports will carry the official game designations, so treat everything below as the state of play heading into that final update.

The Thursday board

Here is where the key fantasy names stood after Thursday's sessions, based on team and league injury reports.

Lamar Jackson: progress, not clearance

Jackson has missed two games since spraining his left ankle against Tennessee on Oct. 4, and Tyler Huntley started both. Thursday was a step forward. Jackson was on the field at the start of practice and reporters who watched the open portion said he was moving well and not obviously favoring the ankle. He was still listed as limited, and offensive coordinator Declan Doyle said Jackson has a lot of work left before he can play Sunday against Cincinnati. Not every observer saw the same thing, either: one Bengals-focused outlet reported he limped off the field after a session this week.

Head coach Jesse Minter has described Jackson as day-to-day all week. The betting market has wobbled with every update, and that volatility is the clearest signal that nobody outside the building knows. For fantasy managers, the practical answer is to have a backup quarterback rostered if you start Jackson, since the Ravens and Bengals kick off at 1 p.m. ET and you will know before lineups lock. If Huntley starts again, downgrade the entire Baltimore passing game: the Ravens managed 10 points in last week's loss to Cleveland with him under center.

Rashod Bateman (shoulder) was a full participant Thursday, which gives Baltimore its receiver group back regardless of who throws.

Baker Mayfield: the Friday decision

Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles said the call on Mayfield would come Friday. The quarterback has missed three games since dislocating his right thumb in a Week 3 loss to Minnesota, and rookie Jalon Daniels has started in his place. Two straight full practices are as good a sign as a player can give, and Mayfield has said his thumb is strong enough to play. Earlier in the week there were reports the Bucs were game planning as though Daniels would start, but those came before the practice upgrades. If Mayfield is named the starter, he is a viable QB2 at Carolina and the Tampa Bay receivers get a meaningful bump in projection.

Kansas City: Kelce trending in, Rice trending out

Travis Kelce was limited on both Wednesday and Thursday with the ankle he had taped repeatedly in the Week 6 win over the Chargers. Barring a setback in Friday's session, he should play Sunday night in Seattle. Patrick Mahomes was also on the report with a knee issue but practiced in full.

Rice is the bigger concern. He missed Wednesday and Thursday, has played only four games this season (13 catches, 190 yards, one touchdown) and sat out Week 6 entirely. Andy Reid has called him a quick healer, but two missed practices heading into a Sunday night game usually means the team is leaning toward caution. Xavier Worthy led the Chiefs with seven catches for 73 yards in Rice's absence last week and is the main beneficiary if Rice sits again.

Green Bay: Love cleared, Jacobs set to return

Love took several hits in the Week 6 win over Dallas and Matt LaFleur described him as pretty beat up afterward. He was limited Wednesday and full Thursday, which puts him on track for Sunday's game in Detroit, the highest total on the Week 7 board. Josh Jacobs practiced again and the expectation is he plays for the first time since leaving the commissioner's exempt list. On the negative side, LaFleur said it was tough to say whether tight end Luke Musgrave (neck) plays again this season.

The rest of the board

George Pickens practiced on a limited basis with a shoulder injury, which keeps him in the questionable range for Dallas at Philadelphia. Breece Hall (quad) was limited Thursday after not practicing earlier in the week, a positive trend but not a guarantee against Miami. Jaylen Wright (foot) stayed limited for the Dolphins, which matters because Miami's backfield has been thin since De'Von Achane's season-ending ACL tear.

What to do before Sunday

Lock in Love and Kelce. Plan to start Worthy as a WR3 with upside, and move Rice to the bench unless Friday brings a surprise upgrade. Pair Jackson with a Sunday-afternoon backup or a late-window option. Mayfield is a stash-and-start if Bowles names him Friday.
