Victor Wembanyama Scores 43 With Six Blocks, Tyrese Maxey Drops 38 and Cameron Boozer Keeps Memphis Unbeaten: Saturday NBA Fantasy Notes
By Verdexed NBA Desk

Saturday's NBA slate delivered three performances that matter for fantasy managers well beyond one night. Victor Wembanyama scored a season-high 43 points with six blocks as the Spurs beat a short-handed Minnesota team 121-111. Tyrese Maxey poured in 38 to rally the 76ers past Charlotte 109-104 while LeBron James and Joel Embiid rested. And rookie Cameron Boozer set a career high with 27 points as Memphis routed Sacramento 136-105 to stay the league's only unbeaten team at 6-0.
Here is what each game means for your roster and for the betting market.

Spurs 121, Timberwolves 111: Wembanyama's best night yet
Wembanyama shot 17 of 34 from the field on his way to 43 points, seven rebounds, six blocks and four assists, according to the AP. The Spurs have now won four straight after losing their first two games. The fantasy profile is the one managers paid a top pick for: elite scoring paired with the kind of shot-blocking that wins a category by itself. Six blocks in a 43-point game is a combination almost no one else in the league can produce.
Dylan Harper added 25 and De'Aaron Fox had 22, which is a healthy sign for the Spurs' supporting scorers. Harper's production in particular is worth noting for managers in 12-team leagues; a second-year guard scoring 25 next to Wembanyama and Fox is earning a meaningful role.
For Minnesota, Ayo Dosunmu led the way with 27 points and nine rebounds. The Timberwolves were without both Anthony Edwards, who needs knee surgery and could miss about two months, and Rudy Gobert. Dosunmu has become a must-roster player during Edwards' absence, and nights like this confirm it.
76ers 109, Hornets 104: Maxey carries a resting lineup
With LeBron James and Joel Embiid both resting, Maxey took over. He hit 13 of 23 shots, including four threes, and made eight of nine free throws for a season-high 38. Philadelphia trailed for much of the night before closing on a 15-3 run, per one report, with VJ Edgecombe hitting a late three and Jaylen Brown icing the game at the line with 5.2 seconds left. Brown returned after missing Friday's game and scored 16, and Anfernee Simons added 19 off the bench.
The fantasy lesson here is about rest days. Philadelphia is carrying two veteran stars who will sit on some back-to-backs, and when they do, Maxey's usage spikes. He is already a top-tier fantasy guard; on rest nights, he is a near-lock for a big scoring game. Simons is the bench scorer who benefits most when the stars sit and is a useful streamer on those nights.
For Charlotte, Grayson Allen and Brandon Miller combined for 51 points, with Allen hitting 7 of 10 from three. The win moved the 76ers to 6-1 and kept them unbeaten on the road.
Grizzlies 136, Kings 105: Boozer and Memphis keep rolling
Boozer, the rookie, scored a career-high 27 with nine rebounds, and Isaiah Stewart added a season-high 24, according to GMA Network's report. GG Jackson scored 21 and made all five of his three-point attempts, and Cam Spencer had 10 points and 13 assists. Memphis was without Ty Jerome and Scotty Pippen Jr., both dealing with back issues. The 6-0 start matches the best opening stretch in franchise history, first accomplished in the 2014-15 season.
Boozer is already a strong fantasy asset, coming off his first career triple-double earlier this week. His combination of scoring, rebounding and playmaking makes him a top-100 player in category leagues, and he is trending upward.
Spencer's 13 assists stand out. With Jerome and Pippen out, he has stepped into a primary playmaking role and should be added in leagues that value assists, at least until the injured guards return. GG Jackson is a streaming option on high-volume three-point nights.
For Sacramento, rookie Darus Acuff Jr. scored 38 in a losing effort. The Kings fell to 0-6, but Acuff's usage on a team that needs scoring makes him a priority add in most fantasy formats.
The betting angle
All three games carried market lessons. The Spurs are winning with Wembanyama playing at an MVP level, and their supporting cast is producing, which makes them a team the market may still be catching up to after their 0-2 start. Philadelphia's ability to win on the road without LeBron and Embiid suggests the 76ers' depth is real, a factor that matters for spreads on rest days. And Memphis' unbeaten start has come with strong performances from its bench, which is often a sign of a sustainable run rather than a fluke.

What to do in your league
Wembanyama is a top-three fantasy player; enjoy the ride. Maxey is a must-start every night and a priority captain in DFS on nights when LeBron and Embiid rest. Dosunmu, Spencer and Acuff are the waiver adds to target if available. Boozer is a hold in all formats and a buy in dynasty leagues. Harper is worth rostering in 12-team leagues as his role grows.
