Week 7 Waiver Wire: Germie Bernard, Omar Cooper Jr. and Kendre Miller Lead the Adds With Four Teams on Bye
By Verdexed Fantasy Desk

Week 6 Sunday handed fantasy managers a fresh set of waiver targets and a bye week that will test every roster. Germie Bernard caught 11 passes for 87 yards and the overtime winner in Pittsburgh's 26-19 comeback at Tampa Bay, Omar Cooper Jr. returned from a high ankle sprain with 103 yards and a touchdown for the Jets, and Kendre Miller out-touched Alvin Kamara in New Orleans' 34-27 win over the Giants. Those three headline a Week 7 wire that has to account for the Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers and Washington Commanders all being off.
The bye list matters more than usual. Josh Allen, Jayden Daniels, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert sit at the same time, along with James Cook, Terry McLaurin, Brian Thomas Jr. and the Chargers' entire skill group. Managers who roster those players need to fill holes, not just chase upside, and that changes how aggressively to bid.
What changed on Sunday
The biggest role changes came from injuries. Patriots receiver Romeo Doubs was ruled out with a shoulder injury after an early long touchdown, and DeMario Douglas absorbed the work, catching seven of eight targets for 86 yards and a score in a 26-19 win over the Jets (he also lost a fumble). In Houston's 34-31 London win over Jacksonville, Jaylin Noel caught all four of his targets for a career-high 107 yards and a 13-yard touchdown from C.J. Stroud, his second straight game with a score.
Elsewhere, Chargers receiver Ladd McConkey left Kansas City early with a concussion, Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. was removed against Baltimore with a rib injury and is reportedly headed for an MRI, and Ravens receiver Rashod Bateman was ruled out with a shoulder injury in a loss to Cleveland. In Philadelphia, Dameon Pierce started with Saquon Barkley (hamstring) out and Will Shipley on injured reserve, and he managed 35 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown in a 25-14 loss to Carolina. Kansas City's Kenneth Walker III ran for 128 yards and two scores against the Chargers, which makes his backup a more valuable handcuff than his usage suggests.
The Week 7 target board
The table below lists Verdexed's priority adds in order. Reasons are drawn from Sunday's confirmed box scores and injury news; availability will vary by league, so check your own wire before setting bids.

| Kendre Miller | NO | RB | 20 carries for 70 yards, led Saints in touches while Kamara was hurt |
| DeMario Douglas | NE | WR | 7 catches, 86 yards, 1 TD with Romeo Doubs (shoulder) ruled out |
| Jaylin Noel | HOU | WR | 4 catches, career-high 107 yards, 1 TD; scored in back-to-back games |
| Kyler Murray | MIN | QB | Bye-week streamer at home against the Colts |
| Emmett Johnson | KC | RB | Direct handcuff to Kenneth Walker III in a 5-0 offense |
| Dameon Pierce | PHI | RB | Started with Barkley out and Shipley on IR; 12 carries, 1 TD |
Receivers: Bernard first, Cooper close behind
Bernard is the cleanest add of the week. He set career highs in catches and yards, caught his first NFL touchdown on the drive that won the game, and did it as the clear beneficiary of Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson being sidelined. Aaron Rodgers threw 49 passes in that game, and Bernard soaked up 12 targets. Volume like that from a receiver whose role is secured by injuries is exactly what managers missing Thomas Jr. or McLaurin need. Pittsburgh faces the Saints in Paris on Sunday morning, an early kickoff that will lock lineups at 9:30 a.m. ET, so set lineups Saturday night.
Cooper is the higher-upside, lower-floor option. A rookie returning from a four-game absence produced 103 yards and a 48-yard touchdown, and a separate score was wiped out by penalty. Mitchell's finger injury should keep the role open for at least another week, and the Jets host Miami. Some analysts are cautious about whether the Jets' passing volume can sustain it, which is fair, but in 12-team leagues he belongs on rosters now.
Douglas needs a fast decision because New England plays Thursday night in Chicago. If Doubs is ruled out early in the week, Douglas is a usable flex in PPR formats; if Doubs returns, he slides back to depth. Noel is a deeper add: four targets is a thin base, but two straight touchdowns and a soft home matchup against the Giants make him a reasonable bye-week fill-in.
Running backs: take the work where it exists
Miller is the best running back available in most leagues. He led New Orleans in rushing and touches with 22, Kamara left early before returning as a pass catcher, and Travis Etienne (hamstring) is not eligible to come back until after the Saints' Week 8 bye. That points to at least one more week of meaningful early-down work against Pittsburgh in Paris. He is a flex play with touchdown upside rather than a locked-in RB2.
Emmett Johnson is a pure handcuff. Walker has been a workhorse, which caps Johnson's standalone value, but a back attached to an undefeated offense that just ran for a two-score win is worth a bench spot for Walker managers. Pierce is the deepest add on the board: 35 yards on 12 carries is not inspiring, but the touchdown came near the goal line and Philadelphia's backfield is thin until Barkley's hamstring cooperates. The Eagles host Dallas on Monday night.
Quarterbacks and the bye-week math
With four starting quarterbacks off, streaming is mandatory for a large share of leagues. Kyler Murray is the most-cited target across FantasyPros, RotoBaller and other waiver columns, and his matchup at home against Indianapolis is favorable. He is rostered in roughly half of leagues by most accounts, so check before assuming he is gone. Managers in deeper formats can look at Aaron Rodgers, who just threw 49 times, though the Paris kickoff complicates late-week decisions.
Penix is the name to monitor rather than add. Atlanta is reportedly hopeful about his rib injury, but an MRI result is pending, and a quarterback with a rib issue is risky in any week.
The Verdexed angle
The same injuries that move the waiver wire also move markets. Verdexed's NFL model weighs receiver availability, backfield health and travel (Paris and London trips included) when grading each matchup, and Week 7 has plenty of all three. What to do now
Prioritize Bernard with your top claim, then Miller if you need a running back or Cooper if you need upside at receiver. If you roster a bye-week quarterback, spend a lower claim on Murray rather than a top priority, because you only need one week of coverage. Make your Douglas decision before Thursday's kickoff, and stash Emmett Johnson only if you already roster Walker or have a spare bench slot.
